The Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation Supports Wendy
Tokuda's "Students Rising Above" Organization
July 2006
KRON 4 Anchor Wendy Tokuda was presented with a check for $5,000 to support the
organization she founded, Students Rising Above, at the July 27, 2006 East Bay
Chapter meeting. Students Rising Above was created in 1998 by Wendy Tokuda and
Community Relations Manager, Javier Valencia as a series of news stores
featuring low-income youth living in the nine-county Bay Area. The goal of the
series is to tell the stories of children growing up in poverty, and after each
story, viewers are invited to donate money to a scholarship fund. The
program helps low-income Bay Area high school seniors rising above tremendous
odds to get through college with scholarships and other assistance.
Keiretsu Forum member Ed Lowe's wife Susan is on the board of Students Rising
Above and together they help the program raise funds to supports the students
in need. At the meeting, Tom Dowd, Chair of the Keiretsu Forum Charitable
Foundation presented Wendy Tokuda with a check for $5,000 to support the
organization's fine work in the community.

Wheelchair Foundation Hosts Keiretsu Forum Members at
Behring Auto Museum
July 2006
Ken
and David Behring hosted 30 Keiretsu Forum members to lunch and a tour of the
Wheelchair Foundation museum and the Behring Auto Museum after the July 27,
2006 Keiretsu Forum meeting. Ken expressed his appreciation for the
donation of over 1,000 wheelchairs by the Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation
and its members. David Behring gave the group a tour of the Wheelchair
Foundation and talked about the tremendous need that still exists in the world
for additional wheelchairs. He also talked about the groups' next project
which is to provide clean watering filtering equipment to countries all over
the world. A group of Keiretsu Forum members will be traveling with Ken and
David in the Spring of 2007 to distribute wheelchairs to people in need.
Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation Donation Benefits Skin Disease
Camp Wonder
June 2006
The Children's Skin Disease Foundation held its' annual summer camp for
children with skin disease at Camp Arroyo in Livermore this June.
The Foundation was founded by Francesca Tenconi. The purpose of the foundation
is to raise money to fund medical research for better treatment and possible
cures of several skin diseases which affect children. CSDF
established Camp Wonder, a medically staffed summer camp at which children with
serious and fatal skin diseases can forget about their disease and just have
fun. The pictures are from the party the last night of camp where everyone was
dressed as pirates.

Camp Wamp - Disabled
Camping Program for Kids

Camp WAMP provides enriching summer disabled camping programs for kids with
physical disabilities such as Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Cord Injuries and
Cerebral Palsy. Surrounded by towering pine trees and located in the beautiful
Sierra County Mountains near Lake Tahoe, Camp WAMP's disabled camping programs
are nestled in the High Sierras, 40 miles north of Truckee.
For Campers and Counselors alike, it's a place and time to nurture
independence, encourage responsibility and build lifelong friendships. Those
who have participated agree the experience and interactions made strong
positive impacts on their lives.
Keiretsu Forum member Hal Marsh serves on the board of Camp Wamp raising funds
for the program. The Charitable Foundation recently made a donation to
support the camp.
Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation's Fourth Annual
"Sports for Charity" Event Raises over $505,000 for Local Charities
May 2006
Over 300 members and guests of Keiretsu Forum attended the fourth annual "Sports
for Charity" golf and tennis tournament, dinner and auction on May 1, 2006 at
Castlewood Country Club. The event raised over $505,000 for charity and is the
premier fund raising event for the year for the Foundation.
Proceeds from the event will go to support a variety of charities including
InnVision, Hanna Boys Center, Center for Attitudinal Healing, The Bay School of
San Francisco and The Wheelchair Foundation.

The May 2nd Sports for
Charity Raised over $130,000!
Fall 2004/Winter 2005
Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation's 3rd Annual Sports for Charity event was
the biggest ever with over $130,000 raised for non-profit organizations. 387
Keiretsu Forum members and friends participated in the auction and dinner,
which took place at the beautiful Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton on May
2, 2005.
Highlights for the evening included live and silent auction items which raised
over $60,000, choral music by the Oakland School of Arts, presentations from
several of the charities present including OPTIC, Foster A Dream and the
Foodbank of Contra Costa.

The Habitat for Humanity home in Oakley is nearing completion and the Jiminez
family is looking forward to moving into their new home sometime this Fall.
These photos show the completed exterior of the home. The Jiminez family
greatly appreciates your generous contribution of funds, building materials and
work time.
 
 
Food Drive to
Benefit Hungry Families
November 2004
Once again we will assist the Contra Costa Food Bank with a food drive at our
November meeting. The Contra Cost Food Bank helps needy families in our area
throughout the year. Larry Sly, the Executive Director of the Contra Costa Food
Bank will be our guest at the meeting and will share information about the good
work that they do.
Christmas Gifts for Needy
Families

The Adopt-A-Family program brings Christmas presents to families who might
otherwise not experience the joy of the holiday season. Keiretsu Forum members
will be provided information about the members of a particular family along
with their needs and wants. You will do the shopping and wrapping for this
family and the presents will be collected to be delivered to the family.
Details and sign up sheets will be provided at the November meeting.
Warm
Coat Drive
January
2005
Imagine how important the gift of a warm coat is to someone who can't afford to
pay the heating bills or who lives on the streets. Over the last 2 years the
Charitable Foundation has donated over 200 warm coats to needy individuals. In
January we will once again collect warm coats and your generous contributions
are greatly appreciated. More information will be provided at the December
meeting.
3rd Annual Keiretsu Forum Ski and
Snowboard Trip
February 2005
The Keiretsu Forum Ski and Snowboard Team invites everyone to join them for an
event benefiting the Charitable Foundation. The Ski Trip to Lake Tahoe has
always been one of the most popular outings of the year. Members enjoy
excellent skiing and gourmet meals in a beautiful Lake Tahoe setting. Last
year's dinner at the Lahontan Lodge was the highlight of the event.
