The website of this large global network of angel investors explains how to apply to the group for funding. Business owners can complete a fact sheet for screening by Keiretsu members. The group then selects certain applicants to make a 15-minute presentation before a group committee; some of those applicants may then present before larger forums of the group's members.
Keiretsu, based in Lafayette, Calif., includes 850 members on three continents who meet U.S. government standards for certain private investors, according to the site. Companies that apply to Keiretsu have typically already raised between $500,000 and $1.5 million on their own. (The name is derived from a Japanese term for a close-knit group of independent companies that work together collaboratively, sharing a common supply chain.)
